Last week we had our Collaborate Inspiration Day exploring this years theme of Rural Lives.
First off Megan, Curator lead us in some word association fun. We shouted out all the words we could think of linking to rural and ended up with a colourful list of words from community to deprivation, friendly to isolated, sunshine to smile.
What words come to mind when you think about ‘rural lives’?
We also took this time to get to know everyone who had come along for the event. In pairs, we talked about what rural life means to us and added our thoughts to the feedback wall in the Rural Lives exhibition.
Walking the dog early in the morning – no-one else is around. The smell in the air, the flow of the river, the bird’s singing. Beautiful.
Then we explored the exhibition ‘Rural Lives’ and the in-progress redevelopment of the Collections Gallery. We were lucky enough to be joined by contemporary photographer J. A. Mortam whose work features in the exhibition. He gave us a presentation about his work and some of the people he works with.
The Collections Gallery and Rural Lives exhibition are now open to visitors. Come and explore the photographs and objects to see if they inspire you.
