Beer and Brewing

‘Beer and Brewing’ is an exhibition on display at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse from Sunday 11th March to Sunday 28th October 2018.

Drinks on a Friday night, roast dinner for Sunday lunch and pub quiz on a Wednesday. Pubs have always been at the heart of a community. We visit them for so many reasons. For food, for fun, to listen to music and to meet and make friends. But pubs are changing. How often do you visit your local?

Cheers! The most popular drink in a pub is a pint of beer. Beer is made of barley, water, hops and yeast. Norfolk has ideal conditions for growing barley. In the past there were hundreds of breweries across the county. The growth in popularity of lager from abroad and bigger brewery companies led to a decline in beer brewed here during the 20th century. But now there are micro-breweries reviving the county’s brewing industry.

We hope, that through this exhibition, you will explore, create and share with us.
